Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams will today, Monday, 2 March, launch the party's planned events for Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish language week) 2009.
At today's event, which commences at 1pm in the party's Stormont offices, the booklet, 'Essential Irish for Sinn Féin members' will be launched by the West Belfast MP.
This will be the 1st of a series of events that will take place over the next few days. The other events are as follows.
On Tuesday, 3 March, at 1pm, Mr Adams will unveil an Irish language mural at the site of the former Andersonstown RUC barracks.
On Tuesday, 10 March, at 10.30am, a Seachtain na Gaeilge coffee morning will be held at Stormont to allow MLAs the opportunity to celebrate the Irish language.
On Saturday, 14 March, at 10am, an intensive Irish language course for Sinn Fein members will be held in the Rodai Mc Corley Club on the Glen Road with classes at all levels for those who want to brush up on their Irish.
Finally, on Monday 16 March, at 7pm, a celebration of the first anniversary of Belfast's first Irish language Sinn Fein cumann, cumann Chaoimhin Mhic Bradaigh, will be held in the Culturlann on the Falls Road to celebrate the work of the new cumann and to draw to a close Seachtain na Gaeilge 2009.
The cumann is named after IRA volunteer and Gaelgeoir Caoimhin Mac Bradaigh who was killed by a unionist gunman who attacked the funeral, in March 1988, of the three IRA volunteers who were shot down by the SAS in the British colony of Gibraltar.
