Claim your vote - register now!Published: 31 March, 2009
With only a few weeks to go before the European election on Thursday 4th June 2009, Sinn Fein MEP Bairbre de Brun is urging everyone to ensure they are on the electoral register.
''The right to vote is one of the most important human rights that a person can have,'' said Ms de Brun.
''The Electoral Office has been actively removing people who are registered from the electoral register. This includes people who live in households where there are 6 or more registered and people who move address to a new home.
''Sinn Fein is urging everyone to check if they are on the electoral register. This can be done by phoning the Electoral Office on 0800 4320 712 or (028) 90 446688.
''No-one should assume that they are on the register. Check to make sure.
''If you are not on the register, you should immediately fill in and submit an electoral registration form to ensure you get onto the register and secure your right to vote in the upcoming European election.
''You can download a registration form from the Electoral Office website at www.eoni.org.uk or you can get a form in any Sinn Fein advice centre.
''The British government and the NIO are trying to deny you your right to vote.
''Don't let them away with this.
''Register and use your vote.'' |
