Sinn Fein secure graffiti removal on Kennedy WayPublished: 17 November, 2009
Unsightly graffiti on Kennedy Way has been removed after Sinn Fein MLA Paul Maskey and Councillor Caoimhin Mac Giolla Mhin teamed up to tackle the problem.
Councillor Mac Giolla Mhin said:
''Responding to the concerns of constituents, Paul Maskey and I met with officials from Belfast City Council's cleansing department to explore ways of cleaning up this stretch of Kennedy Way.
''Unfortunately, graffiti is an unsightly problem right across West Belfast.
''In this case, we appreciate the efforts of the City Council Cleansing Department. They have responded positively to our requests, despite the limited resources of the team tasked to tackle this problem.
''Sinn Fein is also currently engaging with the Department for Regional Development to explore further ways to lessen graffiti on this stretch of road.
''To complement improvements that have taken place on main roads in West Belfast, a more comprehensive approach to tackle graffiti is crucial.
''The people of West Belfast deserve to live in a clean and safe community.''
