Maskey condemns threats to traffic attendants

Published: 1 August, 2008

West Belfast Sinn Fein MLA Paul Maskey has totally condemned an alleged threat made by so-called dissidents against traffic attendants operating in the west Belfast area.

Councillor Maskey said:

'I have spoken today to representatives from National Car Parks (NCP) and the Department for Regional Development (DRD).

'If this threat to traffic attendants is real it should be immediately withdrawn.

'Traffic attendants are ordinary working men and women providing a vital service in west Belfast and in towns and cities throughout this island.

'The work they do is appreciated by the community.

'The attendants should be able to carry out their work without threats or the fear of attack.

'I would condemn any threat made to traffic wardens.'
