Mayor Hartley to unfurl national flag in Mayors office

The national flag will be unfurled by Belfast Mayor Tom Hartley in the Mayor's parlour at Clarendon dock on Tuesday 5th August at 11am.
The flag will be presented to the Mayor by councillor Alex Maskey MLA, the 1st Sinn Fein Mayor of Belfast.
Sinn Fein president and West Belfast MP Gerry Adams willl speak at the ceremony.
Tom said:
''Over 100 veteran republicans from throughout Belfast will be present at the ceremony on Tuesday.
''They represent 80 years of unbroken struggle for Irish independence in this city.
''This is a very important ceremony in this, the 2nd largest city on the island..
''The unfurling of the flag in the Mayor's parlour is a continuation from the Mayorship of Alex Maskey and is a recognition of the changing nature of the political culture of Belfast.''
