Mayor Hartley unfurls national flag in Mayor's office

Belfast Mayor, councillor Tom Hartley, today unfurled the national flag in the Mayor's office at Clarendon buildings.

Mayor Hartley was presented with the flag by former Belfast Mayor, councillor Alex Maskey.

Over 100 veteran republicans from throughout Belfast were present at the ceremony including Bobby Storey, Dickie Glenholmes, Kitty McGettigan and Rita and Stephen McCracken, the parents of IRA volunteer Kevin McCracken who was killed on active service.

Former Belfast deputy Mayor, councillor Marie Moore, chaired the ceremony and west Belfast MP Gerry Adams was the main speaker.
