Councillor Angela Nelson
Angela Nelson lives in the Dunmurry area and is the mother of 4 children.
She first joined Sinn Fein in 1970 as a member of the Robert Emmet cumann in the St James area.
In March 1973 Angela was interned in Armagh Gaol at the age of 17.
She was released in 1975 only to be re-arrested in 1976 and charged with hijacking and having explosives.
She was released in October 1976 when there was no evidence offered to support the charge.
Angela worked in her local community for many years before being selected to stand for Sinn Fein in the Dunmurry Cross electoral area in the 2005 local government elections.
She was successfully elected and took her seat on Lisburn council where she has since worked tirelessly for her constituents in the Dunmurry Cross area.
Angela is a member of the Economic Development and Corporate Services committees on Lisburn Council and also represents Sinn Fein on several outside bodies. |
