Councillor Michael Browne

Michael Browne lives in the Falls area and was first elected to Belfast city council in 1997.

Michael is a former chairman of west Belfast Sinn Fein, worked in the party's national publicity department for a number of years and has served on the Sinn Fein Belfast Executive and the Ulster Cuige.

Michael represents the Upper Falls electoral area on the city council and is now into his third term at City Hall.

Since he was first elected Michael has served on the councils policy and resources, community and recreation and development committees, associated sub-committees and working groups as well as representing the council on the Belfast Marathon Board, the Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau, the Belfast City Centre Management Company, the Court of the University of Ulster and the Local Government Association.

A former chairman of the councils policy and performance and economic development committees, Michael now chairs the development committee at City Hall as well as the Belfast District Policing Partnership.

Michael is also current deputy Chairman of the West Belfast Partnership Board.
