Councillor Chrissie Mhic Giolla Mhin
Chrissie Mhic Giolla Mhin was elected as a Sinn Fein councillor for the Upper Falls DEA in the May 2005 council elections. She grew up in the middle Andersonstown area and she proudly represents the party as the local councillor in the area where she lives today. Chrissie joined Sinn Féin in the 1990's and was a member of Cumann Feirste, based in the Riverdale/Stockmans area, before becoming a member of the Andersonstown Martyrs cumann. Chrissie has campaigned hard on environmental issues such as street cleaning and recycling and making the Andersonstown area a more attractive place for all. She has represented Sinn Fein on the Belfast City Council older people's working group for the past few years, aiming to improve the lives of senior citizens in her constituency. Chrissie has been a part time Occupational Therapy Assistant in a Belfast hospital for many years and is also qualified in reflexology and Indian head massage. She is also trained in trauma counselling. She is a keen walker and is keen to encourage the people of west Belfast to avail of the wonderful resources we have in the form of the Belfast Hills. Chrissie is also a keen traveller and enjoys experiencing other cultures and cuisine. |
